My family lives near a military base and I often go there to visit them, so there are many retirees in a military community. A man named Skip came up to my table at Starbucks for a chat. He spoke much about his conservative views and made me realize how often I forget the good in holding traditional values. The media can often caricaturize intentions for politics. In the end he posed a question: "Am I doing my best to better the lives of others, for myself and for others?" Politics can always get heated but we managed a pleasant conversation.
