I began this sketchbook with the discipline of doing black and white work with inks and markers. I used a variety of black mark-making tools including Microns, Kuretake Zigs, Pentel Brushpens, Jetstream Ballpoints and other black pens. Some ideas were premeditated and some freestyle, mostly drawing out of my head in various styles to find out what kind of handling I am comfortable with. The biggest challenge was being confident with loose drawing but maintaining a level of accuracy.
